Fish Frikkadel - Cape Malay Cooking with Fatima Sydow
600 grams of Hake fillets( simmered in hot water for 10-15 minutes, drained, cooled and broken unto pieces and skin and any bones removed)
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely grated
4 pieces of white bread, soaked in water and excess water squeezed out.
2 tbsp of chopped fresh parsley
Salt to taste
1 tbsp of black pepper
Oil for frying
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl with your hands , cover with cling wrap . chill in fridge for 20 minutes. Make individual fish cakes and shallow fry on medium to High heat for 3 minutes on each side or nicely brown and crispy outsides.
No need to fry for more than a few minutes as the fish are already cooked. You may add some freshly chopped chili or chili flakes to the mixture for extra heat.
