Edible Pixie Dust

Edible Pixie Dust
A fun colored sugar to mimic pixie dust for kids who love Tinkerbell and The Pirate Fairy.

Ingredients

  1. Portion Sugar in the Raw into a glass bowl

  3. Add in a few drops of the Wilton food coloring gel. This won't change the texture of the sugar and will give a stronger color. You don't need a lot.

  5. Mix well
  6. Spread on a tinfoil tunnel on cookie sheet
  7. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
  8. Allow to cool thoroughly
  9. Store in air tight container

After you bake the pixie dust, you will need to re-break up the sugar before putting it into a shaker. You can also try drops of liquid food coloring to achieve different colors or depth of color.

To make the baking super easy, I made little “boats” out of tin foil so I could easily keep the different colors separated. And then when it was baked it was easy to dump it into the new container.

If you find that the crystals are still too clumpy and not as fine as you would like. You can also put them into a blender and pulse for a second or two. And it will give a finer texture. Although you will loose some of the gloss and shine from the pixie dust when you do that.

You can use Pixie Dust on just about any baked treat!
  • Bake up some pie crust and sprinkle it on with a little milk and bake!
  • Sprinkle on cookies
  • Sprinkle on Ice Cream
  • Sprinkle on Cupcakes
  • Sprinkle on yogurt
  • Make your own The Pirate Fairy Pixie Hollow Fruit Pizza (Look below) healthy recipe
  • Sprinkle lightly on your breakfast cereal.
  • Use for Cake decorating
  • Scatter across the table as “evidence” of fairies visiting.
  • Zen Gardens
  • Layers in small bottles to make nice designs.
  • Art projects with glue sticks
  • DIY pixie sticks! Use Colorful Plastic Straws, fill with Pixie Dust and seal shut. :)
  • Dip ice cream cones in white chocolate and roll them in the edible Pixie Dust.
  • Sprinkle on breakfast foods: pancakes, French toast, cream of wheat, crepes

Pixie Hollow Fruit Pizza

Ingredients
  • 1 pie crust baked
  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Kiwi
  • Grapes
  • Blackberries
  • 1 quartered orange
  • 1 Pirate flag printable
  • Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 tube blue gogurt yogurt
  • Sprinkle Edible Pixie Dust
Instructions
  1. Bake Pie crust
  2. Allow to cool
  3. Spread with vanilla yogurt
  4. Use blue Gogurt to create river
  5. Slice strawberries and Kiwi into flower shapes
  6. Place sliced bananas on Winter side of the river
  7. Place Sliced Kiwi to represent trees.
  8. Place Sliced Strawberries to represent flowers
  9. Place blackberries and grapes to represent other seasons
  10. Add Fairy Cake topper or mini figurine
  11. Lightly Dust with Edible Pixie Dust
  12. Add Pirate flag printable to a tooth pick
  13. Insert into quarter orange.
  14. Place on "shore" of Pixie Hollow island.
  15. Enjoy!
