PAPTERT

What you will need:...
1 litre water
10 ml salt
625 ml Mielie-meal
30 ml Butter
250 Grated cheese


How to prepare:
1. Bring the water and salt to boil. Mix the mielie-meal with some water to form a smooth paste. Add the paste to the salted water and stir to prevent clumping. Turn the heat down and cover the pot. Let the pap stand for about 10 minutes – stir in the cheese and butter and mix thoroughly.

Now for the filling:

What you will need:
15 ml Butter
250 g Theron’s bacon, diced
250 g Mushrooms, sliced
1 Brown onion, chopped
1 Can of sweet corn kernels, drained
2 Cans of chopped tomatoes
Salt and pepper to taste
250 ml Cream
250 g Cheddar, grated
Basil leaves, torn

How to prepare:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 ⁰C.
2. Melt butter in a pan and sauté the bacon, mushrooms and onions together.
3. Grease an oven dish with a little butter and put half of the pap in the bottom of the dish, spoon some of the bacon mixture over the top. Spread the sweet corn and one can of tomatoes on the top followed by the cream and cheddar.
4. Season with salt and pepper and cover with the rest of the pap.
5. Place the other can of tomatoes over the top and finish off with more cream and cheese.
6. Bake for 30 – 40 minutes and garnish with the basil leaves once out of the oven.
