Split-pea Soup with Marrow bones




Split-pea Soup with Marrow bones
Ingredients
Marrow bones or meaty bones ( very important , to create a great flavor)...
1 packet of dried split peas ( I use Lion)
5 carrots grated on fine side of grater
2 onions grated
1 cup of chopped soup celery
4 cloves

1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of black pepper
Method
Soak split peas in warm water for and hour , rinse and add in a pot with 4 cups of hot water and the washed bones and cloves , boil until split peas are completely soft and mushy - this is the trick to a good Split pea soup ... Adding hot water when needed.
Now add the carrots , onions , soup celery and salt and black pepper and 3 cups of hot water , cook on medium to high heat for 30-40 minutes , stirring occasionally . Keep the lid half ajar to stop soup from cooking over .
Serve with fresh baked bread .
