First Choice's Koesister Recipe


Ingredients for the dough:
 3 eggs
 150 g First Choice Butter
 10 cups flour
 1 packet of instant yeast
 1 cup sugar
 2 tsp aniseed
 1 tsp salt
 1 mashed potato
 2 cups lukewarm water
 5 l oil for frying
 1 packet of desiccated coconut

Ingredients for the syrup:
 2 cups sugar
 1 cup water
 2 cinnamon sticks
Directions for the dough:
·         Sieve all the dry ingredients together.
·         Mix the 3 eggs with the 150g First Choice Butter.
·         Mix the dry and wet ingredients together.
·         Add the potato to the mixture.
·         Mix with lukewarm water until it forms a dough of loose consistency.
·         Cover the dough with cling wrap and place in a warm sunny area for an hour.
·         Form 4cm long oblong shapes with the dough.
·         Fry the dough in the oil until brown.
Directions for the syrup:
·         Put the sugar, water and cinnamon sticks in a medium-size pot.
·         Bring to boil and let it simmer for 10 min.
·         Dunk the koesiesters in the syrup for a few seconds and then sprinkle with coconut.
·         Best served warm!
